By using CartScan, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

The content, safety ratings, health scores, ingredient analyses, and recommendations provided by CartScan do not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The information should not be interpreted as a recommendation for a specific treatment plan, product, or course of action.

4.2 Not a Substitute for Professional Care

CartScan is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from a licensed physician, dietitian, nutritionist, allergist, or other qualified healthcare provider. Always seek the advice of your healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition, food allergy, dietary restriction, or nutritional need.

4.3 No Doctor-Patient Relationship

Use of CartScan does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-patient, or any other healthcare provider-patient relationship between you and CartScan, its owners, developers, or affiliates.

4.4 AI Limitations in Health Context

All health-related information is generated by artificial intelligence, which:

• May produce inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated safety assessments
• Is not trained or certified as a medical diagnostic tool
• Cannot account for your individual medical history, conditions, medications, or allergies
• May fail to detect harmful ingredients, allergens, drug interactions, or cross-contamination risks
• Does not consider cumulative or combined effects of ingredients

4.5 Assumption of Risk

You expressly acknowledge and agree that any reliance on information provided by CartScan is solely at your own risk. CartScan, its owners, developers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any injury, illness, allergic reaction, adverse health effect, or death resulting from your use of or reliance on information provided by the application.

4.6 Emergency Situations

If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, including but not limited to anaphylaxis or a severe allergic reaction, call your local emergency services (e.g., 911) immediately. Do not rely on CartScan in any emergency situation.

4.7 Consult Your Healthcare Provider

Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of information provided by CartScan. If you have or suspect you have a medical condition or food allergy, consult your healthcare provider before making any dietary decisions based on information from this application.

CartScan offers the following subscription options:

• Free: 5 scans per month
• Basic ($4.99/month): 100 scans per month
• Pro ($9.99/month): 500 scans per month
• Ultra ($79.99/year): Unlimited scans

6.1 Billing

Subscriptions are billed monthly through Google Play Store. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges until you cancel.

6.2 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Google Play Store account settings. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing period.

6.3 Refunds

Refund requests are handled according to Google Play Store policies.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse engineer or modify the App
• Abuse, exploit, or circumvent scan limits
• Share your account with others
• Use automated systems to access the App

8. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of CartScan are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• CartScan is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind
• We disclaim all warranties, express or implied
• We are NOT liable for any damages, injuries, allergic reactions, illness, or health consequences resulting from use of the App
• We are NOT liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the App in the past 12 months

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless CartScan, its owners, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from:

• Your use of the App
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your reliance on information provided by the App

11. Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services including:

• OpenRouter/Anthropic (AI processing)
• RevenueCat (subscription management)
• Open Food Facts (product database)
• Amazon (affiliate product links)

These services have their own terms and privacy policies.

12. Affiliate Disclosure

CartScan participates in affiliate programs, including Amazon Associates. When you click product links, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

13. Modifications to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective when posted. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or us.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CartScan regarding use of the App.
